Migrating profile from TB68 to Nightly78

I need to use the nightly release due to the fiasco with Outlook.com. I am on Debian Stretch and currently have my main profile under TB68, and have installed TB 78.0a1 (Jun 01 release). Unfortunately I have been unable to use my existing profile in the nightly release. I tried using the import option, but it can only seem to find something called SeaMonkey (a program which isn't installed on my system and doesn't even exist in the repos). For some reason it does not give me the option of importing my currently in-use profile from TB68.

So next I renamed the newly-created nightly profile and copied my existing profile into the same folder name. When starting TB78 it doesn't recognize ANY of the multiple mailboxes, address books, filters, or anything else. It basically starts up as though there is no existing profile.

What do I need to do in order to import my existing profile into the nightly build so I can continue receiving my work email?

I finally found the solution... You have to start TB from the command line with -allow-downgrade to use a profile that isn't from the exact same version. I miss the good old days when TB wasn't so stupid about trying to be smart.

If you start TB 78, then Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles, is there another profile, besides the one in use, that can be launched, that contains your 68 data?

Yes it lists all six of the profiles found in my thunderbird folder, including the actual profile being used by TB68. However I didn't want to try and migrate the original folder in case something went wrong, thus my reason for copying the entire contents into the new profile name created by nightly.
