I have the auto update feature enabled on my firefox browser, I am on windows 10 and it just will not auto update. It asks me for a manual update every time. I cannot find any recent information as to how to fix this issue so I figured I would ask here.

Did you do a normal install or manual? Are you hooked directly to the internet or using a VPN? Are you getting any error messages?

I installed it through the downloaded exe file off the Firefox website and did the install through the installer. I am not using a VPN I am directly connected to the internet.

Hi, bit of a long shot, but are you getting the 'doorhanger' dropdown from the Firefox 3-bar menu asking you to update, or is it a Windows User Account Control request that you are seeing? If it's the latter, try 3-bar menu > Options > (General) > Firefox Updates, and make sure that 'Use a background service to install updates' is selected.

If it's the Firefox dropdown that you are getting, see if it still happens in Safe Mode in case one of your extensions is causing it: Hold down the Shift key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode. More - Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If it's OK in Safe Mode, disable any theme and your extensions - 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Themes/Extensions, then restart Firefox; now if it's still OK, re-enable them one by one - or a few at a time until you find the culprit. You may need to restart Firefox after enabling some extensions. That might take some time I know!
