How do I go back only 1 page when back button is unlit & the only choices I am given when I click the x [exit] box are to exit all tabs or cancel the request?
I am new to Firefox. My prior experience is with Internet Explorer which allows me, when browsing, to click on the red x [exit] button & be given a choice of closing only the page I am viewing or closing all pages. In similar situations [when the back button is unlit & therefore unuseable] Firefox only gives me a choice of cancelling ALL tabs or cancelling my request entirely. Is it possible to go back only 1 page at a time with Firefox [when the back button is unlit]? Thanks.

No, you need to right-click a tab on the Tab bar to close that tab.
You can also use the Alt+F keyboard shortcut to open the File menu.
That choice is not available if you use the mouse to open the File menu.

You can close a specific tab via Ctrl+W or with a middle-click on that tab or via the right-click context menu.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks. The "ctrl+w" suggestion works. I will try the others when I get a chance, though I'm not sure about the 3rd. Re the 3rd, do I right click on the page itself, is the "context menu" what then appears with a list of items, & if so which of those items do I left click on? Appreciate your help.
