I had to buy new computer cause the old one will not stay powered on, and I want/need to get all my Firefox Info - Bookmarks etc... to my new computer. I had everything (supposedly) backed up on an WD external drive and I can't get info off of it either. My other computer was 5 years old and I have used Firefox from the beginning so there is a lot of info I desperately need.

If you still have that old computer, remove the hard drive and put it in a USB drive enclosure - (should be available from most stores that sell new computers) and recover your Firefox data from the old hard drive.

Hi Big1011Guy,

Do you still have access t the old computer? Can you at least turn it on temporarily? If you can, you should take a look at the Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles Knowledge Base article. It will give you all the information you need to transfer everything from bookmarks to passwords onto your new computer.

Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for your help. When I Googled USB Drive Enclosures, well the possibilities are mind boggling. Can you recommend a type, brand, price point or anything that can help me figure out what kind I really need. Thanks in advance for your help. Guy

Unless you have a use for it in the future just buy the cheapest available, but you need to match it to the type of hard drive you have - IDE (parallel) or serial. Or get whatever is available where you normally shop.

I just use an IDE to USB converter cable (no fancy case, but nobody seems to sell it that way these days) I bought real cheap 8 or 9 years ago and an AC/DC 12volt wallwart power supply I dug out of my "hoard" of DC power supplies.
