I never had this website black out problem with (some) website addresses until I got into website readings on NSA listed privacy invasion activities told by Snowden. I was moveing the websites address icon to my desktop. From this icon I could send the website address to my E-mail friends for their read.

Shorty after doing this , the website address black out problem started.
I must assume that my pc could be comprimized by the NSA or one of the PC,s that NSA put a backdoor

program into before it went to sales market. Pc is a HP purchased 1 1/2 yrs. ago. 1 tb / 8 gig ram. Use Norton internet security program.

You mentioned a few different things. Where is the address blacked out?

  • Firefox address bar
  • Search results pages
  • General web pages

You have a lot of extensions. Perhaps this is a feature (or side effect) of one of them? To see whether extensions are involved, a common test is to repeat the same actions in Firefox's Safe Mode. (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

If the blacking out is gone, it most likely is caused by one of your extensions. The challenge is figuring out which one.

If you are concerned about unwanted software on your computer, you can supplement your Norton software with "on demand" scanners like the ones listed in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

As a follow up on this problem. Malware was suggested as a possible cause.

I did run a program that I have called Spyhunter and malware was

found by this program. Malware was removed.

Now I need time to see if this did the trick. If over a few or more days if this problem goes away I will advise the suggested answered parties if problem went away. This problem is intermittant . So please be patient with me till I

can evaluate further.

 Thanks,
