For Firefox extensions I am getting the message "xxx could not be verified for use in Firefox" for multiple extensions on two computers

For Firefox extensions I am getting the message "xxx could not be verified for use in Firefox", where xxx is the name of the program extension. I am receiving this on multiple computers. (Dashlane, McAfee WebAdvisor, and Protect My Choices). I am receiving this on multiple computers. This seems to have started sometime yesterday.

Is this a problem with the extensions or is it Firefox. Since it is on multiple computers, I don't think it is a problem with my system and believe it is something with Firefox since it is happening with multiple extensions. Thank you.

All extensions for Firefox need to be signed. During installation of extensions Firefox "verifies" if an extension is signed; if not you get a message. Come Firefox 41 on Sept 22 not signed extensions won't install, but with Firefox 40 not-signed extensions are allowed to be installed and will be enabled. They will have a warning in the Add-ons Manager "... could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution."

Dashlane & McAfee WebAdvisor have been mentioned frequently as not being compatible with Firefox 40 for reasons other than "verification". Might be due to a deprecated API that was removed from Firefox 40; add-on developers of record with Mozilla were notified 9 months ago about that API removal, so they weren't caught by a surprise move. Dashlane & McAfee WebAdvisor need to be updated by their respective developers. Protect My Choices - never heard of before.
