I can not get Firefox to open to my chosen home page. I have tried the various suggestions from the general help links. I asked this question yesterday and received a reply. I tried the suggestion (running msert.exe). No malware found. No success on the homepage. I did not have this problem at beginning of week. All was working fine and I really haven't installed anything new or visited anyplace strange. I have Webroot software as my protection. I do go to homepage when I click homepage icon in toolbar line. Just don't know why it won't open to that page when I start Firefox.

By any chance is your home page Yahoo? Users started reporting a few weeks ago that for some reason Yahoo won't open at startup even though it opens in new windows (Ctrl+n) or when you click the Home button. Clearing Firefox's cache can resolve the issue for at least one startup but isn't a permanent solution. One workaround was to change from a full URL to just yahoo.com which is strange because Firefox has to do more work (redirect once or twice). I haven't seen a good explanation for why some people and some sites have this issue.
