I am using a MacBook Air M1 connected to an old 1680x1050 external monitor with a VGA cable.

Thundebird is the only app I cannot move to the external monitor because it does not resize/scale itself: when moved to the old monitor it becomes unusable: - it does not scale - scrolling does not work in many UI elements.

I have made plenty of searches and tried the few solutions I have found, but none seem to solve the issue.

Question 1) Is it possible to use Thunderbird in my settings? Question 2) If yes, what do I need to do in order to have the application resize/scale itself?

Attached photos, the one with more than one window is of the external monitor.

The link you posted might be useful to adjust the GUI on a single monitor.

The issue here is when you use Thundebird with a second monitor (moving the window between the two monitor), especially when you work with multiple and different external monitors, each with its own dpi.
