I have been running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium since it first came out. I have a HP Pavilion desktop with 8 gb of memory and 700 gb of hard drive. It has worked fine with no crashes since day one. Recently I got my first blue screen with a notice that the system had crashed and a "crash dump" was going on. I rebooted and the system started up again and I have no problems. Now it has happened six or seven times in the past month, most of the time when I visit an ESPN page where there is a video that starts whether I want it to or not. Usually while the video is loading is when the crash happens. One other time it started happening when one of my desktop applications (Weatherbug) was very busy updating itself; after a couple of crashes I uninstalled Weatherbug and now it only crashes when I go to ESPN. This can't be a problem exclusively caused by ESPN, I wouldn't think, and I suspect that if I went to more sites with similar video features it might happen again. But this has never happened before, so what has changed in the past couple of months that has caused my computer to crash so often?

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

The folder names weren't exactly as you listed (like there is no "submitted" folder) but there was a stack of dated "install time" reports. I'm not exactly sure of what numbers you wanted, so I'll give you all of them. Here is the entire list of every crash report in that folder, so you can see this is a relatively recent phenomenon: Installtime************** followed by ID # 20121128204232 -- 1354751589 20121024073032 -- 1351368165 20121010144125 -- 1350072991 20120905151427 -- 1347035880 20120824154833 -- 1346370067 20120713134347 -- 1342647720 20120614114901 -- 1340655389 20120601045813 -- 1339785803
