How do I get Thunderbird to sort my 'in-box' by date?

In the past Thunderbird would always sorted my mail by Date. The latest e-mail was always at the top, and the oldest one was always at the bottom. But now my in-box is not this way any more. Now the chronological order is gone from my mail box. How do I get it back again? Trying to use the menu in the upper right hand corner did not help me to find the answer to my question. Why? Because not enough information is there that will point me to the folder where this answer is located.

Chosen solution

Try this from the 3-bar menu in the upper right: View, Sort by, check Date, Descending and Unthreaded.
