Like many my bookmarks disappeared. Following the many suggestions one seemed to have possibilities. That was to restore a backup file. However when the restore option was taken in the library only one showed up which was dated with today's date. I then looked for and eventually found the 15 backup files that were claimed to exist.

But how do I select one of these and use it for backup purposes if they don't show up in the restore list. By the way the only file shown in the offered list is not one of the 15 backups.

Many thanks - I haven't much hair left!

Chosen solution

It would be simplest to copy/paste one or two of those backup files to your desktop. The reason for that is, when you go to restore them, you'll skip past the "today" backup and click "Choose File..." on the Restore menu. A file browsing window will open and you can point Firefox to where to find the files.

Where did you find those other backups? Perhaps you found them in a different profile folder? Or was it a folder on your desktop called Firefox.old ?

It was definitely is in another profile folder. But I haven't quite got the hang of getting to that profile yet via Firefox. I obviously have the user code from the file folder name.

I should mention that it is in the .default folder not the .default user folder.
