hi, this is a long story, it began when i updated firefox very recently and my google toolbar went missing, i could not unistall it then re install, it just wasn't working. so i found help online which guided me through a process of deleting and copying my firfox profile. very complecated stuff i have never done before. well i did it and .... i kept getting the message that "firefox is already running, please close firefox before opening" every time i tried starting it up, despite the face no windows were open. anyway i uninstalled it, the re installed it and..the same problem. keep telling me that firefow can't open as it's already running. sadly i am now using safari.. can any one help me get firefox up and running again? i would be eternally grateful!!!!!

Did you delete the Firefox Profile Folder ?

If you did then make sure that you delete the file profiles.ini as well to make Firefox create a new default profile.

brilliant! all fixed downloaded firefox again and it's all up and running and got google toolbar back! thanks for you help!!

What about Mac users? here is a dump of my firefox report ( Google toolbar issues without any clue) http://www.evernote.com/pub/baragraphe/shared Thanks in advance for your replies. Hoping I will be able to come back here again :(

I was unable to start Firefox. I would click on it and.....NOTHING. This was my fix:

Open Safari and Use Network Diagnostics.

Everything popped right up! Good luck, hope this works for you as well.
