You tube problem pls help
Updated to 3.6.15 and all of a sudden You Tube stop working. Sound still there but no video is showing. Only black screen.
Other browser do work and sites like Metacafe and videos embedded in other places. Adobe flash is updated to latest 10.2.152.32.
Can someone help?

Youtube had this in its help information and it worked for me: 1) Go to http://www.youtube.com/swf_test.html > right-click on the player > click Settings > disable Hardware Acceleration 2) Closing/reopen browser and re-load the video.
Did a bit of both suggestions and seems to work now as usually did.
Thanks both of you. I appreciate your help your awesome.
I completely uninstalled Firefox and all the Add-ons, took out flash, Java, everything and reinstalled it all.
Also removed AVG.
Restarted and Youtube shows the page, but there is no screen for the video, but there is sound. There are no controls for the video, nothing but what is normally shown on the sidebar and everyone's comments.
I can hover over where the controls should be and stop and start the video, but I see nothing.
I'd hate to switch to Chrome to get this fixed!
Yes, that does play, but that is not the answer! I can click video links in Twitter too and they play, but click something else, and the problem is the same.
I guess people are too quick to call problems "solved".
Clearly, this solution has helped no one who actually needs to SIGN IN to youtube.
thanks i did both and its working now again :D
But do you guys REALLY want to live with your hardware acceleration turned off?
Why have to slow down the whole system just to accommodate a firefox BUG?
We should have this FIXED!
Chrome has the exact same problem.
Adobe screwed us with the 10.2.bs release.
Exactly. The vids look crappy with hw acceleration turned off. Why should we put up with that because adobe didnt test its last release ?
We need a real fix.
I need to be more specific on my prior post. In my experience, this seems to be an adobe issue. I updated adobe first and experienced the problem, then updated firefox hoping the problem would go away. It didnt, so in the meantime I downgraded to 10.1...turned hw acceleration back on and all is fine again - but be sure to clear all browsing history, etc again before trying.
I think something is up at adobe as earlier in the week an adobe reader update rendered one of my applications at my shop unable to print until I downgraded reader as well.
I really think something is up at adobe.

I've tried what I can - can't use the youtube suggestions as popout isn't available/visible - have tried from my cached google reader, didn't work. Clearing cache & cookies didn't work. Yeah, NOTHING worked and I refuse to use ie. I am too say the least more than a little angry!

My youtube videos won't even load. The youtube page loads but the flash window is black and there is no activity or sound or anything. When I right click the window, it says something like "file not loaded".
If I go to the youtube shockwave flash player test page it works. I disabled all addons, hardware accel.
I have the latest everything on this system and my laptop which has the same problem.
Youtube works with IE just fine. I suspect its a Firefox problem.
I tried cor-el's suggestion of deleting the firefox cookies and cache on both of my computers and it fixed the problem on both machines. At least for now.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with Adobe Flash or Firefox, it is a YouTube website problem. As I mentioned in the other thread, I couldn't play YouTube videos in all of my three browsers (Firefox, Chrome and IE8). I did reboot my system, and somehow, YouTubes worked again in all three browsers and the videos play as they used to be. I haven't changed any settings or delete/install any add-ons. I am using Firefox 3.6.15 with Windows XP SP3.
Clear the cache.
Not just for "today" period, but for "everything".
Have tried the solutions, clearing cashe, history, cookies, and it works for a short period then quits until I clear again. Don't like clearing history, I use that. Using XPSP3, FFox beta, latest Abobe updates. Same problems with IE7 & Chrome. Probably not the browser, IMHO. Can't wait to get the fix.
BTW doesn't not matter if I'm signed in or not.
I was having a problem with just a black screen on youtube and someone suggested changing the address from http to https and it worked. I have to change it every time, but until the big is fixed, I can get it to work.
