Menu content disappear after random time

more options

After a random about of time the menu pull downs cease working. Example, if I click on <Tools> (or any other button in the menu bar) the list of options (Downloads, Add-ons, etc) APPEARS, but when I move my mouse to select an item the box disappears.

I can restore the functionality by minimizing the firefox and then maximizing it (or by restarting it).

This is on Ubuntu 10.10, compiz and gnome.

It's a bug in Compiz.

"Numerous applications have focus issues after emerging from a screensaver or suspend."

The only solution so far seems to be to disable Compiz.
