I can't uninstall firefox.. If i go to control panel or helper.exe i get this message:

"Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade from firefox. Do you want to restart now?"

picture: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/1850/messagebi.png (It's dutch)

Even if i restart my computer then i still get the same message.. And if i want to install the newest firefox i also get that message.

I just want to re-install firefox because i can't upgrade.. So i just want a clean firefox again.

Ok, do the following:

Download Firefox from www.getfirefox.com, install it. It will install over your current version of Firefox. Restart your PC.

Then Reset Firefox Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Does it work now?

These tips do not work for me and I suppose many others as well. As soon as I click on Uninstall Firefox in Windows Control Panel, the same blasted message pops up telling me to restart my computer. What a joke. Looks like Chrome and IE will win this war....shrug....

If you can't uninstall Firefox via the Windows Control Panel then try to remove the Firefox program folder on the hard drive.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that makes it possible to uninstall Firefox or remove the files.

The delete folder did the trick with no safe mode necessary for me. Thanks!
