When ever i watch videos i get memory leak, if that's the right word to call it, to avoid video lags i new use only 1 video Tab & not 2 like in the past, its just some sources are slow with loading, that why i use to use 2, awry time i click on next EP memory usage grows & awry time i click on full-screen it grows even more & larger number, depending source, some sources use RAM & some committed memory (but with both memory usage grows with each video), so far anime sources use committed & TV series sources ram, also there was talk that Firefox 36 will be free of Flash, that it goes over to HTML5, but i still see flash in my plugins & also all videos still use flash, with anime ram usage increases to a bit, but not as much as with TV series sources, when will the memory leak be fixed?

EDIT: lets just say it leaks memory when watching videos, its just worse in full screen, with TV series it doesn't matter full screen or not, still takes a lot of ram, well in the end of the day its a lot, starts from over 300MB & grows, some sources leak ram & some committed

all my adds, its for extra information

Adblock Edge, Enforce Encryption, Ghostery , More In Content UI +.

this are not known as problem creators, just in case some1 thinks i mite have bad adds

Hey Sugram22,

Firefox 36 does support HTML5, but it doesn't automatically remove the Flash plugin. At this point we are stuck using both because a lot of websites still have Flash content that hasn't been converted to HTML5.

If the videos you mention are on youtube, you can request the HTML5 player here, just click on "Request the HTML5 player".

Let us know if that solves your problem.

Thanks, Curtis

before fox clean reinstall i had HTML5 active, but Flash forced itself on videos, so it worked randomly, sometimes it worked & sometimes not, they could add a codec or how to call it for HTML5 so it can play Flash stuff to (or take over flash stuff or how to say it), i half to at least close fox once a day cause that leak starts to effect performance slowly, first even with 1 video tab video will lag a bit, well not with animes, cause committed memory leak does not effect performance, but i still close fox, cause it bugs me that it just grows with never stopping wit each new video

youdube is not only place i watch videos, never watch series on youtube cause of a lot have copy right issues & get removed, so pointless to try & watch series from youtube, i use it less then other sites, depends on time & need to, movie & game new that type of stuff i watch on youtube

would HTML5 work this time if i activate it again? in youtube i like HTML5 more cause it remember that if i watched video on 720p & next time it will automatically be 720p

i guess there is no other way of watching videos with out flash? if i can't get the URL to play in VLC player, only place form where i can get URL is youtube, but i don't need it from there mush

for extra info

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz

some had issues with i7 but i have i5, some think its just with i7, that flash has issue with i7 core processing at least in win8 they said, but the think is the list of possibility's is huge

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 & Intel HD Graphics 4600

I'm not an expert, but I don't think that is technically possible. It is up to the video hosting site to switch to an HTML5 player.

I would give it a try.

I'm going to escalate your question to see if someone else can give you a better answer.

HTML5 would only fix small part of the issue, unless firefox will leak memory even with HTML5, if fox has issue with videos overall no matter what plugin i use

near back button there is button where user can block flash, that button appears on awry video site when player is displayed, does it block flash awry where or just on that site?

Does the use of plugins click-to-play help? I had to get the extension Click To Play per-element to get proper control of plugins again with Firefox.

don't have it, whats it for & what does it do? i can change all plugins to always run or ask or never ask, if u meant that by control

i have issue with HTML5 at 1 point it stops loading & when i play video to that point it gets stuck (well that's normal, i just wasn't looking at the loading bar & noticed the issue when playing got stuck) & i had to reload the page 2-4times before i can continue, it dose not happen awry time

it seems that the HTML5 playing randomly was duo waterfox old files, bot use same profile folder, seems that clean reinstalling Fox fixed this issue, also new i have a button to disable HTML5 to, on that page, before reinstalling fox i did not have that option

for some reason with HTML5 it doesn't remember the settings like if i play video in 720p it doesn't start next video in 720p i have to do chose 720p again manually, i remember that in past it remembered, can it be that ghostery is blocking something necessary or does fox block cookies that are necessary to it?

also whats up with picture display? sometimes in MyAnimelist.net & youtube user pictures (Avatar's) are not displayed, i see only broken image icon at the place of Avatar, after 3 times page reloading its fine again until i close the page & revisit later, then i need to reload page again 2 or 3 times

You do have plugins click-to-play because it is part of Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_plugins#Click_to_Play

That page explains more about it. Firefox these days has click-to-play working as per-site blocking, so that if you activate a plugin from a certain site, that site will keep sending plugin items with no control for an hour (by default). I prefer to have control over each and every item that is presented by plugins, so I got this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/click-to-play-per-element/ That page also explains different ways to set up click-to-play.

flash is only one that is always active, why are others ask to active? do plugins take memory pointlessly even when they are active & not in use?

i think Enforce Encryption gives control over plugins to, it has 4 or 5 tabs like fox options, right mouse click on blank are of the page then page info & then precisions & u see all plugin names there & options like u have on Fox Always active Ask to active & never active, so u can set different rules to awry page, i relapsed HTTPS Everywhere with it

I know nothing about NVIDIA 3D VISION. Most YouTube videos are not 3-dimensional, though, so if that is for making things look 3-D, why bother?

What does enforcing encryption have to do with plugins?

as i explained it has Tab named permissions & in there u have same options as Add-ones - Plugins, same control sys, but user can make different plugin rules to each page, then isn't it almost like click-to-play?, gives more control over plugins

Why not test using a new profile, something you will know how to do from your other questions. Test with HTML video only. Have all plugins in that profile set to disable and use Firefox's Safemode. (Or just one plugin set to click to play if it is either essential, or the one suspected to be a problem)

Does that stop the memory leak ?

I know that may not be how you like to use Firefox but try it for test purposes.

How are you measuring the Memory use ? You should try using about:memory How big/fast is the memory leak. You mention it increasing by 300MB over a day. Do you see this in about:memory ? Which memory report item are you looking at ? Most importantly does this cause any noticeable effects ? Does something bad happen when memory use increases ? With about:memory you will be able to diff the results from the start and end of your days video session test.

i don't know much what to do in about:memory, not advanced user, i don't know how to look it in there

i know memory is leaking just cause its not normal memory usage to increase with a day if u do the same thing example watch series, just click next EP & this tab closes & u watch next EP in new tab, with animes its committed & with tv series its ram what usage grow, i was keeping my eye on it by looking at it from TaskManager

i did clean reinstalling firefox cause of the issues old waterfox stuff caused in firefox & it did not change a thing about memory leak, so creating a new profile wont have any effect (Cause with clean reinstall i removed profile folder to), i believe the issue is how flash works & possibly conflict between flash & fox, maybe even Windows 8.1 is involved in it to, maybe it adds oil to fire or is mane cause of it, its possible all 2 or 3 are involved in this one way or the other, watching in normal window memory usage wont increase that much, but in full screen fox becomes like beast

You can set Flash to "Ask to Activate", the same as the other plugins. That uses click-to-play, but I believe you need to enable it as well from about:config.

if i disable flash i can't watch series

isn't this https://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=a811b78d-6ad5-4051-80fe-47cfd972e917 as good as click-to-play, its part of Enforce Encryption, it seems to give more control over plugins to

i have question about HTML5, in past when i played video on youtube, with HTML5, it remembered i watched on 720p & next time i opened browser it was set to 720p if the video had that option (u know some are 360p, that's why i say it like that), same with cinema mode, if i used it it was already on when i chose video, new it is back to default awry time i i reopen browser, is spybot free blocking this cookies that are needed to remember that data? i was told it was Flash issue, but it seems the issue is with fox, or something blocking few necessary cookies, it not a big issue, i mean i can live with it, but if there is a easy fix i would not mind hearing about it, as example easy like about:config & change something there

Ask to Activate and Always Ask would be the same, I think. You should set the Microsoft application to Always Ask to have control over Flash. That way, there should be a placeholder over the item, and when you click that, the item should load.

i forgot to mention, i have APE & Ghost, other flash stuff is blocked, only video is displayed, i mean advertisement is blocked, so the flash stuff does can't take my memory

i just looked click to play is enabled, maybe i should switch Nvidia 3D plugins to never active, cause it only ask to active only on youtube, & it ask only when i reload the video page, when i chose the video it won't ask, but it should ask straight away when user chose video to play & video starts playing, there are 2 nvidia 3d plugins, 1 is for images & the other for streaming
