How do I make new tabs show my home page (again) ?
Hello,
This has been asked and answered before here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1036802
But it DOESN'T work anymore... with FF 41.0.1
I have configured the homepage to show a precise URL but when opening a new tab I get an empty page with a "settings icon" where I can only choose to display an empty page OR the most visited sites... but I don't want either of this, I want the bloody FF to respect my settings and display MY homepage.
Any idea on how to fix this ?
Cheers,

Hi, from Firefox 41, you need to use an add-on like New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.
Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Cmd+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.
Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.
You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
Thanks for the help.
It's a pity, I'm a very long time FF user but since a couple years it's a complete non-sense...
Why on earth is there still a setting to enter a homepage when this homepage is NEVER displayed unless you use a plugin ?
It's a shame, everyone will go to Chrome if the development continue to be a total mess and we can all say goodbye to privacy.
SeaMonkey does not do junk like that. It is not serving ads or gutting the interface. http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/

If you were to install Firefox today, I don't think you would find a browser.newtab.url setting in about:config. However, Firefox often keeps obsolete preferences if they have been customized. If you've been using the same profile for a long time, you probably have several other inactive preferences lingering long past their expiration date.
When the new tab page with tiles was introduced in Firefox 13, the preference was created in about:config for advanced users to override the normal page. Because preferences are easy for malware to change, the method has now switched from a preference to a programming interface. It's a different extra step for users.
Prefs that show user set (bold) on the about:config page will always stay present on the about:config page even if they are no longer have effect because Firefox stopped supporting the pref. You need to reset no longer supported prefs via the right-click context menu to have them removed on the next start.
