Twice recently my screen has gone to a "Firefox Update". Is this for real? I thought updates were automatic!

I'm concerned this is a security issue.

" Is this for real?"

No, that's a fake update. You are correct, Firefox doesn't do updates in that manner.

See this support article and verify that is what you saw. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/i-found-fake-firefox-update

That scam has been around for almost 7 months now, and if is proving to be hard to stop. It seems that one or two new domains sprout up each day, so by the time users report those domains to the Safe Browsing website and those domains get added to the blocklist, the person producing that crap that has already moved on to new domains. And we suspect that infected advertising networks are propagating that crap to somewhat innocent websites.

uBlock Origin is effective at blocking that crap from appearing in Firefox; I never saw that until I disabled uBlock Origin and caught a few of those while they were still active. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

How is this occurring? Are there words such as "urgent update"? Can you take a screenshot and post it here?

My print screen key does not work. How do I take a screenshot? I really don't remember if it said "urgent update".

Thanks for responding and I look forward to your future help with this!
