Firefox is not processing a "tiff" image file stored on web server. Safari does process and show the same image. Problem apparently does not occur with jpg and png.
Image file stored in html code on my web server as tiff file does not appear in Firefox for Mac 9.0.1. Instead, the alt and caption appear. This problem does not occur in Safari, nor does it affect jpg and png files.

smo, The link in your answer takes me to a website written in Polish, Czech, or some other East European language. I can't read it and therefore can't find the viewer you reference.

cor-el, I don't have a problem viewing tiff files on my Mac. That is easy using Preview. My problem is that Firefox for Mac 9.0.1 does not process tiff files on my website. Safari does process them, so I know the problem is not with the image files but with FF.
What kind of problem do you have with the images?
With which MIME type are those images send by the server?

cor-el, I do not understand your question.
The server puts out jpg, png, and tiff files, since I can see all of those files using Safari. I went to the Mozilla add-on page and saw that it was an add-on for viewing HTTP headers.
Can you explain more what your question about MIME type and your referral to a header add-on have to do with the problem Firefox has? I will consult with my website administrator once I understand a bit more about what I will be asking him. I will add the add-on to FF once I understand a bit more about what I should do after I add it.
You can use that extension to see the response header send by the server and see with which content type files are send. If Firefox doesn't recognize the MIME type and there is no action specified in "Firefox > Preferences > Applications" then Firefox doesn't know what to do.
I added live-HTTP-headers to my add-ons. Don't see anything at all different in the browser. No headers appear. Does this work with a Macintosh?

You can get to the same point by going Tools > Addons and then search among addons for Doc Viewer.
