I'm stuck with a "Babylon" version of the "search the web" facility on the toolbar to the right of the address bar. I've searched for access to it but had no success. Can anyone help?

If it is a search engine in the search bar, see the search bar article for details of how to remove a search engine.

If you have the Babylon Toolbar, follow the procedure in the uninstalling add-ons article, in particular the section on uninstalling extensions and themes

hi, I just solved the problem with the about:config that was suggested here, thanks.. I am wondering though, what does this babylon all do? Is there any risk with it while having it?

I found I had to modify, delete or toggle some of the babylon entries (being a non-geek I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do!) however your solution WORKED!!! Thank you! I no longer have that horrible babylon stuff on my laptop - but I HAVE lost all my bookmarks thanks to babylon which has really really annoyed me :-( Can nothing be done to prevent this kind of sneaky, unprofessional behaviour?

Hey everybody! This is a super easy fix. I figured it out in less than to minutes. Get in to Mozilla Preferences, or in my case The Add-Ons. Then choose extensions. You'll see Babylon Search Bar right away. Simply disable, then remove. It will prompt you to restart mozilla. After that is complete the toolbar is gone for good! Hope this helps. =]

This second time Babylon showed up none of the old ways (from about a year ago of removing it) worked. It simply wasn't listed anywhere that allowed for Uninstall - at least not that I could find. I'm only a semi-computer literate 70 year old grandmother.

Finally I went to Computer

and did a Search for Babylon and Search found four (4) file folders with Babylon in their name/location.

No option to uninstall but I found I could simply drag each file folder - some or all?? containing an exe - to the Recycle Bin - ignoring warnings about doing this - and once I had all four of them in the Recycle Bin (and after I ran the computer for a few hours doing things I normally do and everything seemed to work normally) after several hours ... I held my breath and right clicked on the Recycle Bin and chose Empty Recycle Bin. I then did another Search of the Computer looking for Babylon and found nothing.

Once the four file folders were all in the Recycle Bin the Babylon bar did vanish from my monitor.

So far so good. It hasn't reemerged - yet. It seems too simple but it did seem to work.
