Google Contacts Preview on a tab is what comes up when you go to tools>Open Google Contacts Web but now there is no search bar for a contact. You can only browse via category. What use is a separate google contacts tab in thunderbird if you cant do a simple search. Before there was a search bar but an update made it disappear.

I dont want to use a plugin or addon like google contacts sync. Ive been down that road and its too risky. Google contacts web WAS useful and reliable, just a tab loaded like as a browser page but always there when you open thunderbird only now you cant do a simple search.

Ive loaded the plugin Contacts tab but its not as graceful, it searches form the main window but opens a new tab for every search

as what your talking about is not a part of the base product and you say you do not want to use add-ons. I really have no idea how you did what you did, let alone what your issue is now.
