I have disabled all my add-on, searched for sound in about:config and there is still this annoying sound set up by something internal, external, hidden or forgotten like a setting perhaps? I can't turn it off.

I also checked my Win 7 system sounds and that is not the problem as it only happens with Firefox. I uninstalled and reinstalled it with no effect. Please help. (It was also happening with MS Word but stopped after changing system sounds to something and then to none for opening programmes but the sound still occurs in Firefox)

The problem resolved itself after installing the latest version of Firefox.

Just to verify, you are running Firefox 36.0.4 now correct?

I'm glad you resolved this, and make sure you stay up to date with Firefox in the future to resolve bugs and other issues.

Hi Tyler. I THOUGHT I had fixed it and I played around with different add-ons. Sometimes when I change "Classic Themes Restorer" the problem spontaneously stops and then starts all over again.

It is highly frustrating and somewhat annoying.

Somehow it happens when I open and close MS Word as well!

Odd! I disables the two add-ons to MS Office but there no change. The problem persists and yes I am using version 35.01 as upgrading makes Internet Download Manager IDM incompatible.

I hope you can help and thank you for your response.

Any ideas now?

Hi Update:

I have updated Firefox to the latest version and updated IDM, both successfully. I even ran a repair on MS Word. STILL the problem persists!

I still checked sounds again, even though these sounds apply to opening and closing only Word and Firefox. I have "none" marked nonetheless so what gives I wonder.

I suppose I could uninstall and reinstall Firefox. ... I'll be back with you shortly.

W3ll !!

That seems to have done it again.

I might be back so thanks Fred McD. I appreciate needing to close a thread but I'm not convinced this won't continue and I am not sure what is causing it. Would you happen to know?

Nope. The problem is back again. Yawn. I can't even change the sound and it is grating on my nerves.

Hey thanks Tyler.

Yes indeed. It is 36.04 and I'm loving Firefox as always. It remains my browser of choice and love how it has gotten faster and more responsive as time has gone on.

Much obliged (^^',)
