Hi Everyone !

I already use large amount of filter rules to sort and redirect messages into folders. Many of these rules use the domain name of the sender to redirect the messages in the right folder.

Unfortunately some of this domain name may change and implies numerous modifications to the associated rules.

Would there be a way, a tool, to edit the rules in a file and massively modify then with a "search & Replace" like tool or function ?

Thanks for your replies. bderoissy

Filters are stored in files named msgFilterRules.dat, one for each account. They are human-readable text, so I would do a large scale change of the sort you describe by editing those files with a competent editor, such as Notepad++. It can do regular expressions and act upon multiple files.

Close Thunderbird before making changes to any of the files in its profile. And make backups too.
