My default search engine is google. However, when I search using the address or tool bar I receive yahoo results.

It's possible you have malware taking over your search engine. Please do the following:
- Download Malwarebytes from www.malwarebytes.com, run a full scan, and remove anything it finds.
- Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
