Firefox 84.0 Opens Extra Window when Launched via Hyperlink on macOS
I'm on an iMac running Big Sur 11.4 and Firefox 84.0. When I click on an external hyperlink (say from an email), a new Firefox window opens to my home page even though there is already a Firefox window open. There is only one tab in the new Firefox window (not two like previously reported) - the home page. This does not happen when I switch to Safari. In preferences, I have "open links in tabs instead of new windows" checked. This just started a few months ago. Also, in the example email, when i hover over the hyperlink, a little downarrow box appears to the right of the link. When I click on the down arrow, a window opens with the proper link, but it's not a Firefox window. At the top of this new window, there is a box that says "open with Safari". When I click on it, it takes me to a new Firefox window with only the home page tab. ????

Hi,
This is a known bug on Catalina when you open an external link when Firefox isn't running.
- 1600153 - macOS 10.15 Catalina - two firefox windows are opened when clicking on external link
I'm curious why you use such an outdated Firefox 84.0 version and not the current 89.0 release ?
Thanks for the reply. I'm running Big Sur 11.4 on the iMac. When I try to update Firefox, I go through the process and then when I say "Restart Firefox", it restarts but is still on version 84 and asks me if I want to update to 89.
