Added AOL email account to Thunderbird. AOL email account still receives email messages. Thunderbird receives NO AOL email messages
I added my AOL email account to Thunderbird. My AOL email account still receives email messages. Thunderbird receives no AOL email messages. How do I solve this problem? Thank you for your help. Don Cohen dbcohen@verizon.net

Are you receiving any error messages? Those are usually a clue.
The problem is still not solved. Thunderbird still does not receive AOL email messages!

Unfortunate that you are seeing no errors or other messages, as they might offer a clue.
Thunderbird still doesn't work correctly

No error message. The log-in goes fine. There's a long period of "Checking Inbox for new messages..." and then a no messages to download reply.
The last successful download was ~2:00 PM EDT on 9/17.
No issues with sending emails, only downloading.
I confess that I can't be very helpful there. I presume this is a POP account. You might try this: - check for mail - when you receive message that there are no mails, click tools>developer tools>Error console and see if there are any meaningful messages there.
I looked to see if I could find any general help for Verizon accounts and only found this. It may not relate, but I wanted to share:
Verizon and AOL require an APP password when using email clients on a PC. Users should go to the AOL site and select the security page and can set up the APP password there. See this page for more info: https://help.aol.com/articles/Create-and-manage-app-password
Good luck. If you post back with more info from Error Console, someone here may have suggestions.
david, Thanks for the suggestions. There were multiple error messages in the Error Console. I've attached a screen capture.
Ok, I'm in deep water here, but try this: - settings>general and scroll down to 'config editor. click that - enter mailnews.tcptimeout and change value to 300 and save
That may address the timeout. Otherwise, I'm clueless.
I tried increasing the mailnews.tcptimeout value to 300 but I'm still getting "No messages to download." Thanks for the suggestions.
Verizon and AOL require an APP password when using email clients on a PC.
AOL does support OAuth2 authentication, no app password is required.
I tried increasing the mailnews.tcptimeout value to 300
Unless you know exactly what you're doing leave these things at the default value.
There's a long period of "Checking Inbox for new messages..." and then a no messages to download reply.
What is your anti-virus software?
Also, please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button ≡, then select Help > More Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.
1. I will restore mailnews.tcptimeout to its default value, 100.
2. Norton 360
