When I hover elements, such as text, links, or buttons, the cursor does not change (as in, from the pointer to a hand when hovering over a link, etc.). Well, actually, it does change, but only for a small fraction of a second before returning to the normal pointer. This makes elements on web pages that have hover events almost impossible to use (such as drop-downs like the "Get Help" one at the top of support.mozilla.org) unless I left-click and hold while hovering over the element. This, of course, requires me to click on the element, which might have other consequences.

Hovering works fine with other browsers. This is on an M2 Mac. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

more options

Yes, it still happens in troubleshoot mode. However, I noticed that when I use a different profile, it doesn't happen.

You can try to identify the cause by backing up your main profile folder and resetting all about:config settings to default by renaming the prefs.js file while Firefox is not running.
