Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"

The Private Browsing mode issue was well stated on the blog and was not part of my problem. Nor was the sites that block bookmarking. My program did bookmark one site yesterday (this one) but failed to bookmark at least 15 other sites. I have cleared out the list to make sure that there is not some hidden entry that prevents a new entry. Another issue is that some of the sites I got to have remembered passwords that are not stored in my Firefox password keeper.
