I just updated to Firefox 14.0 and each time I try to launch a site with Silverlight (such as Netflix), either the plugin or the application crashes. I have silverlight 5.1.10411.0. I've tried re-downloading silverlight, but it didn't help.

There is a bug report attached to the crash report that seems to be fixed in the next Firefox Beta (current is beta 7)

You can try Firefox 14 beta 8 next week to see if that fixes the problem.

I tried uninstalling silverlight and then reinstalling twice in Firefox14.0 without success. I wondered if the plug-in for silverlight left behind in firefox made a difference. before testing that idea.. I open my Opera v 12.0 Brower and found out I could play Netflix on that browser... Whatever that means.

While some folks say this is a Microsoft-Silverlight problem, seems to me Firefox 14.0 has some quirks to work out too.

I had this problem too. Here's a sure fix for MAC users:

  1. Access your hard drive (double click the hard drive icon in finder)
  2. Find the silverlight plugin (navigate to your Internet Plug-Ins directory: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/)
  3. Remove the silverlight plugin (drag any of the following into your trash bin:
      * Silverlight.plugin
      * WPFe.plugin
  1. Empty your trash bin
  2. Go to www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/ using your Firefox browser.
  3. Download and install silverlight
  4. Restart Firefox
