I'm not familiar with how this tool changed in Windows 10. Hopefully someone can explain how to resolve that problem.

I can suggest a couple alternatives based on what works in Windows 7:

• To grab the current full screen, press the PrtScn key on the keyboard, then paste into Paint or another image editor.

• To grab the currently active window or dialog, press Alt+PrtScn, then paste into Paint or another image editor.

• To capture a full web page to a file (not including the toolbar area), you can use either:
  • Developer tools (I'll describe in more detail further down)
  • An add-on (there are many screenshot extensions with different free/paid features)

To set up the full page screenshot tool, open Firefox's Web Console using either the Developer menu or Ctrl+Shift+k. This should open in the bottom of the current tab.

Near the upper right of the console, before the "x" to close the console is a gear icon. If you mouse over it, the tooltip is Toolbox Options. Click that and a long panel of checkboxes should appear. Scroll down and on the left side toward the bottom, check the box for "Take a fullpage screenshot". This should add a little camera icon to the top toolbar of the web console.

In the future, when you click this button, Firefox will create a snapshot of the webpage and save it according to your download preference (either asking you where or saving it in your default download folder. By default, the file name will reflect the date and time it was saved, for example: "Screen Shot 2015-08-19 at 17.58.50.png"

I'm not aware of a way to move this camera to another more convenient location, unfortunately.

I deleted some plugins that weren't being used and rebooted. At first attempt the snipping tool worked and then FIrefox crashed and the snipping tool doesn't work again.

When Firefox crashed, did you getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog? If so, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the crash (although that might not be the same as the problem with the snipping tool). Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get the crash report ID from the about:crashes page, and then post it here, along with any other recent IDs you think might be related.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

• Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

There was no crash report submitted, or show in about:crashes since 19 July. Then it was a problem with "Shockwave Flash Version:18.0.0.20".

I have found a file called "Last Crash", which has the right date and time. When I open it in Notepad, all I get is the number 1440350254.

I have tried disabling the hardware acceleration, but that didn't help. Snipping Tool still produces a grey screen - in Firefox only - it works with other applications, including Edge.

Hi, I've found the source of my problem. It is the IBM Security Trusteer Rapport software. It has an option to block screen capture. This must have been switched on when I upgraded to Windows 10. I have switched this off and the Snipping Tool now works with Firefox.
