Latest Firefox update disables Adobe Flash/Shockwave Is there anything that would restore functionality to espn3 that doesnt compromise security
Anything that used Shockwave doesnt work anymore because of security issues according to Mozilla so it wont let you update it. I have read how to bypass blocking settings in Firefox and use it anyway, but is this safe? Can you use anything else for espn 3. espn 3 works fine in edge or ie so I guess they still use it

Firefox 47.0 Release itself is not doing the click to play blocking of Flash Player as the older versions has been on blocklist since May 31.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/blocked/ May 31, 2016: Flash Player Plugin 21.0.0.197 to 21.0.0.226 (Mac) Flash Player Plugin 21.0.0.197 to 21.0.0.213 (Win) Plugin 18.0.0.333 to 18.0.0.343 ESR (Win & Mac) Flash Player Plugin on Linux 11.2.202.577 to 11.2.202.616
edited versions to be accurate as 21.0.0.226 was for Mac OSX only.
Since you have Windows and if you have 21.0.0.213 or older then it is on the blocklist for click to play activation due to critical vulnerabilities.
Unfortunately almost all versions since Dec 2014 have been affected by critical vulnerabilities with proven in wild exploits at times otherwise Mozilla would prefer to not put versions of Flash Player on blocklist.
The current version since May 12 is Flash Player 21.0.0.242 (Win & Mac) https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
The Flash Player can get listed as old name of Shockwave Flash in some places so people may confuse the two different Flash Player and Shockwave (for director) Player Plugins.

Flash Player 23.0.0.185 (Win & Mac) is the current version and is not on blocklist as the latest version on blocklist is 22.0.0.211 which is currently two versions older as the previous version 23.0.0.162 will be on list soon. https://addons.mozilla.org/blocked/
Your problem is likely due to the classic case of having one or more older versions on system along with the current version and a previous version say 22.0.0.211 or older is what is being detected and click to play blocked..

Uninstaller the Flash Player versions and then install the current from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and make sure you uncheck the optional offers since you use Windows.

Did as you suggested and it seems to be working ok now Thank you
I have the latest versions of Firefox (49.0.2) and Adobe Shockwave Flash (23.0.0.5) which is set to "Always Activate" .
I have followed all suggestions. I have uninstalled all previous versions of Shockwave and re-downloaded and re-installed it.
The little lego icon says :-
"Adobe flash is enabled on (website)"
But I STILL get the message:-
"Adobe Flash Player has been blocked by your browser"
What else can I do????
I also had this problem and loading the latest flash seem to work but there are some web sites that that it still blocks from using flash and so far they are yahoo news and western australian news
