i set media.autoplay.enabled to false. This works great. On most pages i can start videos by either pressing space bar or clicking paus/play twice. But how to start playback on sites like Netflix and Twitch?

Are there no visible controls on their players? In that case, try right-click > Show Controls. Any luck?

There should also an item in the right-click context menu to start the playing.

On Twitch the normal right-click-context menu appears but has no playback start. All controls apear an can be clicked. Clicking Pause then Play refrshes the image once but no plaback starts. On Netflix no context menu appears at all and no video controls are visible. The only thing that works is switching to from fullscreen with double click.

As i was testing again on netflix i noticed that there are actually controls on screen but not visible but the mouse curser changes. So after trial and error i have found the pause/play button and after pressing the invisible pause/play button the controls appeared and plaback started. Not ideal, but at least netflix works somehow.

Thank you for reporting that. I'm sure people will find this thread and ask where you were mousing around. Was it along the bottom edge of the player area where you would expect controls to be? I wonder if anyone has reported this to Netflix since they could pretty easily make the controls visible if they understood the circumstances.

controls arent quite at the bottom. once you know where the controls are it is easy to find as mouse cursor changes when howering over an invisible control. i think the issue is that the controls have a fade in effect which is also stopped with autoplay disabled. still no solution for twitch.
