Issue

I have a problem with my bookmarks, cookies, history or settings

Description

I have a bookmark for Stephenie Meyers (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/) and it will only open the site on Mondays, and occasionally on Tuesdays. Any other day of the week all I get is Bresnan Suggestions which has exactly the same site address listed that I'm using. Click on the link there and it takes you right back to their suggestion page. Can anyone suggest how to use that bookmark on the other days?

Does that also happen if you copy and paste or type the link in the location bar?

You may have an ISP that automatically redirects you to a search page if a DNS look up fails. That takes the control from Firefox to do the normal keyword search like a Google I'm Lucky search. In such cases you need to contact your ISP and ask for a DNS server to opt-out of that feature.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday no matter how you try to access just that one site you get directed to the Bresnan suggestion site. On Monday's the site can be accessed by any method. This is not a case of a DNS look up failing or it would be doing it on all days including Monday. It does not happen on Mondays if I go in using Internet Explorer which I don't like doing. My ISP provider has already done half a day of trouble shooting with me and whatever is going on is not on their end.

I've seen a report where some software was causing such an issue by appending the day name to a link when called from an external program that made the link not work, but that was the opposite: it only didn't work on one day (Tuesday, IIRC). Maybe something similar is happening here. --- Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")
