When installiing FF 57.0.1: FF 57.0 stays installed (Program and functions - Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit)

What to do (for plenty of clients)?

Thanks - Michael

Did you confirm that there are actually two Firefox versions installed on the hard drive and that this isn't a problem with the Windows Registry where the updater failed to remove/update the previous version, but merely added a new entry?

The updater would normally always replace the previous Firefox version, but there might be a switch from 32-bit to 64-bit in some cases and a new full version would be installed.

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Have you tried uninstalling 57.0? Remember to backup your firefox backup folder C:\Users\(yournamehere)\AppData\Local\Mozilla and also C:\Users\(yournamehere)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla just incase.

If you have tried, what else have you tried? What version of windows are you using? What are your computer specs?

Yes I can manually deinstall 57.0 - But this is not a pleasure for appr. 100 clients.

I install FF 57.0.1 via GPO (Server 2012) on Windows 7 Pro clients (no special specs) using the Firefox Setup 57.0.1.exe from Firefox.
