unable to download emails from server
Started using TB about 3 weeks ago and has worked fine downloading emails from the BT server for both me and my wife (separate accounts). Two days ago, my wife's emails stopped arriving. She logged on to her email account via the BT website, changed her password, went back to TB and changed that password and all is OK.
However, my emails have now stopped downloading. I have checked the password under Tools/Options/Security etc and it is correct. I can also log into my emails via the BT website, so I know the password in TB is correct. I have tried deleting the account in TB as suggested under Troubleshooting and reentering the password when prompted but this has not worked either!
Am at a loss to work out what's going on and would appreciate some help please!

Please point me to the site where we recommend removing an account. I have editing to do if that is there somewhere. Removing a mail account in Thunderbird rarely fixes anything. I had it succeed once when Norton crueled the whole thing, and I still have no idea what went on in that case. But I have only ever seen that sort of corruption when Norton anti virus/ Security suite is used. It is so helpful nothing but Microsoft products appear to work correctly.
It was on the help page for Mail under Cannot receive messages as below. It didn't work. Still unable to access sadly.
If you cannot log in to your ISPs web-based email interface, your password may have changed. If so, it must also be changed in Thunderbird. To change your password: At the top of the Thunderbird window, click the Tools menu and select Options, or click the menu button fx57menu and choose Options. On the Security panel, click on the Passwords tab and then click Saved Passwords.... 'Click on the relevant account and then click Remove'. Close and re-open Thunderbird. You will be prompted to enter a new password for the account.
I have just tried this, the password shown is correct, but it still will not access the BT server. Getting very frustrated with this it seems to happen too often.

Perhaps you need a mail provider (currently BT) that actually providers the service instead of sub contracting it to someone incompetent (Yahoo) However if the information in this topic does not meet your needs I suggest you ask you own question because I have no intention of continuing to spam the original posted with replies to you here.
