So, I have an issue with Sync and was wondering if its possible to fix it. I listened to a friend(first mistake) when he said oh hey it syncs on your account, no need to worry about losing anything. Well I formatted my old phone and traded it in and lost the install of firefox that had all my bookmarks. I have my new phone and my account signed in but can't recover any of my bookmarks, I had assumed my friend was correct but clearly this wasn't the case. I can see the old sync from 20 hours ago on the previous phone on my account. Is there *any* possible way to recover that sync data or am I completely SoL?

Hi

Thank you for your question about the Firefox Sync service.

It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of this article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

Heres the thing: I didn't have access to two devices, I'm not what you would consider a well off person. Furthermore, if I had known it absolutely required 2 devices I wouldn't have formatted my previous phone and traded it in. Alas I had to listen to my idiot friend who said oh its fine all you have to do is sign in to your sync account. Which is apparently *not* the case. I'm asking if there is *any* possible way Firefox developers could rip the data from the last sync from my old phone so I don't lose over 1000 bookmarks and god knows how many passwords.

I am very sorry, but there is no way that I know of that we can do this.
