I've just upgraded for FF 10 from FF 3.6 on my Macintosh. However I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to import my old bookmarks. The bookmarks toolbar has "Import Data from Another Browser" as an option but does not seem to allow me to import from an old version of FF, simply from Safari? Thanks for your help.

I do not think that answers my question so let me be more detailed. The "Import Data from Another Browser" function seems to rely on importing an HTML file that contains the bookmarks. However, I am not sure #1 if Firefox 3.6 has an HTML file that contains the bookmarks and if it does #2, what is the name of that file? I've looked in the "Profile" folder of FF 3.6 and I don't see an HTML file.

A friend suggested that I need to open up FF 3.6 on my old computer, download the bookmarks to an HTML file and open that in FF 10. Is that the solution?

If the Firefox 3.6.x version was installed on the same computer then Firefox should have found and used the Firefox 3.6.x profile in Firefox 10 without the need to import data.

If that didn't happen then make sure that Firefox still uses that Firefox 3.6.x profile and hasn't created a new profile.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
