Firefox updated recently, now I have a Download icon in the top far right. How do you remove it?

Whenever I download something, it now shows a visualization leading TO this new download icon in the top right, next to the home button... This actually slows things down, and causes Firefox to lock up. There's a lag created because of this icon and its visualization which is VERY annoying. I removed ALL add-ons to make sure it wasn't one of them. It is firefox seemingly.
