Thunderbird will work fine for awhile and then all of a sudden I get this message "sending of password for user mtontodonato@carolina.rr.com did not succeed. Mail server mail.twc.com responded: [IN-USE] account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again." So I enter my password and I get this message again. Then and hour later I'll go to check my email and there are new messages downloading. Then 10 minutes later, I'll get the above error message. Right now I can't even get in, I've been trying all day and it won't accept my password. I know my password is correct because if I go into my web mail the same password lets me in. Please help, I am totally frustrated. I've called my email provider and Microsoft and they both say it's a problem with Thunderbird.

imo, the connection may still be open between tbird and the email server when you are trying to execute a new sync between them.

one way to prove or disprove this is by rebooting the computer after failing to sync with your online email server.

after rebooting, the sync will work upon a new sessions/startup of windows but probably only once.

give this a try and tell us what you get.

About an hour ago, I opened Tbird with my webmail open and my messages came through on Tbird.. I closed the webmail and went in Tbird and I didn't get the error message. I waited an hour an I tried to open Tbird and it asked me for my password. Tbird gave me the same message as before and no new emails came through. My webmal was closed. I will now try what you suggest by rebooting and I will let you know what happens.

get mail on a phone, especially an apple phone. Turn it off and see what happens after about 10 minutes.
