When I try to configure my IMAP mail account on my iphone I get the error message "The username or password for imap.cogeco.ca is incorrect". This is despite the fact that my Thunderbird mail account works just fine on my desktopand I have updated the password for my server (cogeco.ca) and webmail and they work just fine. Apple can't help.

If you don't want to connect to the account that asks for the password, then you can cancel the prompt. But in that case you might as well remove the account from Tools/Account Settings, Account Actions.

First, if you changed the password, you must delete the old one in TB Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, and enter the new one when prompted.

If you're adding the account on the iPhone using the Mail app, it might fail due to it not finding the correct settings. Cogeco settings for TB are imap.cogeco.ca on port 993 and smtp.cogeco.ca on port 587. Connection security for both is SSL/TLS, which is not the usual one for the smtp (port 587 normally uses STARTTLS security). See you can manually enter these settings in the Mail app, or try another mail app that might be easier to configure, such as Outlook for iOS.

Click the 3-bar icon, Options/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords. If the Menu Bar with Tools is hidden, press Alt.

Hi, I was able to do what you asked and deleted 3 old passwords. I left the current password as is. When I open TB now I am asked to put in the password for one of the old ones I deleted. Will this matter? I just cancel it when asked.
