On other services there is a pull down button so you can go back more than one page at a time

This new "update" can no longer do that. I find it upsetting when I'm looking at research and have to keep clicking the back button

It is enough to get me to leave firefox for another search engine

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker
