I use Aurora 19.0a2 (2012-12-21). I cannot use liveupdate to update my Symantec antivirus. I can connect to symantec.com but not liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com Liveupdate.symantec.com akamai.net I get back an error message saying cannot find the ip address.

Using the same program on my wireless laptop with Aurora 18.0 I have no problems

Any suggestions

Does LiveUpdate use the browser, or does it connect directly (using the Windows connectivity components)? I'd be surprised if it uses Firefox...

Can you connect to those domains using IE?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Yesterday I couldn't connect to either of the three sites. Today I can connect (with and without the SHIFT KEY) to both the liveupdate sites but not akamai.net.

I am also taking to Symantec support forum. I didn't think the problem was Firefox but I thought I'd ask.
