I was shocked that my bookmark is gone. I have tried to follow the instruction on your website. The instruction is way too much and the details are profound that wore me out. My very simple question, why my bookmark is gone. I do not fooling around with my browser. I assume that my browser was updated automatically for its new version that wiped out my bookmark. I hope that it has automatically backup somewhere on my hard disk. Like a FireFox bookmark file.

I don't see FireFox's bookmark (filename) on my hard disk. I have a Safari, but they have different address bookmarks.

Did you try restore from one of the automatic backups?

Also try go to your profile folder, enter in bookmarks folder and copy the most recent json file to another place and try restore from it.

I gave it up. There is no any of Json files on my hard disk. Well, it's too bad that my bookmark is gone forever.

By the way I use iMac with FireFox 29.0.1 (version).

If you use the Time Machine on your Mac then you can try to restore the places.sqlite file or possible JSON backups.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
