I downloaded and installed Firefox but it won't open. It is running somewhere as I can see t in task manager, but no browser appears.

As stated above, FF just won't function. I have tried starting FF in safe mode but it still won't run any kind of browser or application, other than appearing in task manager. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, rebooted, etc, but there's no change. I have a fairly new machine, running windows 10 and i7 core. Chrome and MS Edge are working fine. Help me pls!

hi pirran, can you get firefox beta to start? (it recently received a fix for problem you're describing which is apparently hitting a small number of users): https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/desktop/

Hi Philip thanks for trying to help. I just tried the beta at your link and sure enough it works!! What is this beta then? A new version or what? Thanks very much!!!

firefox beta is a pre-release version where we test bug fixes and changes before they are released to the general audience of firefox users. i think there is going to be a firefox update to 49.0.2 next week that should also contain the fix for the problem you were seeing.
