Going on/off vpn FF doesnt acknowledge change in proxy config
My company network (and thus VPN) requires me to use "Auto detect proxy for this network". No flaws there. Works like a charm. When I then get off this network and resumes work home or disconnects vpn firefox gives me the headbanger:
"Unable to find the proxy server"
Restart FF solves the problem, and in most cases my 20 give and take tabs comes back fine. Or I could go in and switch to "No proxy" in configuration. Teaser: IE 7 has no problem in this situation.
Would it be possible to run the "proxy detection" algorithm again just before slamming the "Unable to find the proxy server" in my face ? (Often the local IP address changes, which possibly also could be taken as a hint to re-register the proxy)
The reason I bitch about this small problem is that I love your magic browser, and hate to see corners where IE is just a little ahead :-) Please keep up the good work. Best regards Henrik

- Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12
Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
You can look at these extensions:

Hi cor-el Thanks for your effort. I tried to install FoxyProxy. I belive it solves problems for people with far greater problems than mine.
To recap, my problem was only to run the proxy detection again. I use auto "detect proxy settings for this network" and this setting works like a charm. I just needs to run more often.
AFAICS, neither FoxyProxy nor QuickProxy has this option. But they sure give me an easy access switching proxy setting.
Actually i'm a little bit worse off with this add-in. When starting FF, it could mange before, now I have to mange proxies myself every time i switch network and restart FF.
That was not exactly what I had hoped for. :-)
I still believe it would be a quite small change in FF code to re-register proxies, in case of missing connection.
Whether it can be fixed through an add-in, i have no idea. BR Henrik
Hi,
I have the same problem but wanted to add that Google Chrome, besides IE as already mentioned, also handle proxy switching without restart.
Kind regards, Roland
