I exported my bookmarks in .html before reinstalling my system. Now i can't import them by import and backup > import bookmarks from html. Nothing happens, they aren't even imported all in 1 folder which has happened before. I also tried to replace the .json file in "bookmarksbackup" folder in the "profiles" folder and then deleted the places.sqlite file and then started firefox again, but that didnt fix it either. When i open the .html file in the browser, it shows all the links properly and i can click on them all. I should also mention that the file is fairly large, around 37 000 kb.

Well I went to bookmarks library then to "Import and Backup" tab, and then chose "Export bookmarks to HTML" and saved the file somewhere.

Does the file has an .html file extension?

Windows hides some file extensions by default. Among them .html and .ini and .js and .txt and you may only see a file name without file extension. You can check the file extension (type) in the properties of the file in Windows Explorer via the right-click context menu.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
