How to remove multiple instances of a content type (jpeg) in Options/Applications?
Want to save a JPEG on email messages however am not receiving the "Open or Save File" option when clicking on download. When checking the Options/Applications/Content Type list, JPEG Image appears twice and the Action for one of those cannot be changed. Thought removing one of these Content Types might resolved the problem, however it cannot be removed, at least without further instructions for doing such.

reinstalling won't help in most cases, but you could try a reset: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

hello, maybe the file which holds the download actions became corrupted. please try the following: go to the
- firefox menu > help > troubleshooting information,
click on profile folder/show folder and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there rename or delete the file named mimetypes.rdf - it will be regenerated again the next time you launch the browser.
There might be separate entries because the server can send two different content types for a JPEG image: image/jpeg and image/jpg. On my system this is displayed in parentheses but I don't know whether that is standard or caused by a custom setting or add-on. Either way, the actions should be modifiable if mimeTypes.rdf is healthy.
Followed instructions and renamed the file; launched Firefox and looked at the Applications list and JPEG wasn't even listed, nor does it download or open when clicked on as an email attachment. Any other thoughts? Thanks.
which webmail provider are you using?
Am using Yahoo email; however also have Firefox on a laptop and it is working fine there, so must be something on the desktop computer that is out of whack. Perhaps Firefox should be removed and reinstalled? Thanks.

Did the "Reset Firefox" - appears to be functioning correctly now. JPEG is not listed in the Content Types either, but assume this shouldn't be an issue if the "Open or Save File" is being presented regardless. Thanks for the assistance. Will also click the "Resolved" option.
