One more thing that worked fine in 68.x, but not in 69.x.

Every time I start Firefox, I upgrade to the latest version and securely wipe the profile directory to start over with a clean (empty) profile.

However, I do not want to see any update notifications while it is running. That interferes with my work (capturing images and video of the screen.

PLEASE tell me how to turn these notificatios off (and make it easier for others who want to do the same thing).

If you want to completely prevent Firefox from checking for updates, which has the side effect of preventing Firefox from notifying you about updates, you need to use one of the Enterprise policy options in a policies.json file. Note that this file is placed in the program folder, so if you remove the program folder for each installation, you will need to place the file there each time.

Obviously this is not recommended for casual users who could easily fall behind on patches.

The details can be found in other threads or web search.

I assume that you also remove profiles.ini (and a possible installs.ini) to start from scratch?

Are you using Selenium for testing or merely use a command line version or script to launch Firefox?
