Add IMAP account, TB31 crashes upon starting to contact the server. linux crash [@ NS_MsgHashIfNecessary ] bug 768480. Should be fixed in version 38
'So... I'm on 31.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I've successfully added my iCloud email which is my secondary. My primary is a UK2 hosted IMAP account which I've had for years so is about 1.5GB in size. If I tell Thunderbird to remember my password for this account, it crashes on startup. If I uncheck the box to remember it, i get a password prompt for the IMAP account in question on startup. I enter the password, it crashes. I hit cancel without entering the password and it boots fine and I can happily sync and use my other account. This IMAP account works fine on my Mac with Mail 5.3 and also on outlook on win7. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this? I've googled about and tried resetting Thunderbird several times and across clean OS installs too. Any help appreciated.

Do you have a crash ID? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Mozilla-Crash-Reporter#w_viewing-crash-reports
Thanks for the reply. Is this what you mean?

OK so if nobody has an answer to my problem specifically. Is there any advice on other ways I can look to solve this?
Hi jason.
Have you had other linux crashes?
If not, it's great that you reported this but there isn't enough crash activity or information to pursue it. Only one other crash in the past week.
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/d7f34f4e-f779-46a5-a04b-f9a712141017 is [@ NS_MsgHashIfNecessary ] with nsMsgDBFolder::CreateFileForDB second on the stack.
I should add, if you have *reproducible STEPS to reproduce it then please post the full set of steps
Thanks for chiming in, it's been very quiet here. Firstly no other crashes, it's just Thunderbird and only happens on one of my two email accounts, an IMAP hosted account from UK2.
My steps so far are: Fresh install of 14.04 LTS from a UEFI USB live stick on a GPT HD, partitioned to allow a win 7 dual boot. Thunderbird, latest version and I also tried dialing back a version or two to see if that helped. Manually input server details for IMAP account. Try and check email. Crash. Any other info that might be useful?

You should find this fixed in version 38.0.1 and in 31.
