My tesco.net e.mail service is closing down after 10 Oct 18. I have been using Thunderbird for some time and have a lot of old emails on my PC. I am assuming they will remain available but need to be sure. I am migrating shortly to g.mail on Thunderbird and am not sure how the old tesco.net emails can be accessed.

I would advise that regardless of account type, you should move (or copy, it won't make any difference in the long run) all the messages you want to keep into the Local Folders account in Thunderbird.

If your account was using POP, this would be less urgent, but ultimately when the account goes offline, Thunderbird will continue trying to access it and will generate error messages.

Given that it's IMAP, you need to make your own copies while you still have access to the tesco.net server.

What is your account type - POP or IMAP?

Thanks. I am on IMAP on Thunderbird. My wife is on POP3v on tesco webmail. Had a look at Thunderbird profiles on my PC, but they seem to be empty.
